SHANGHAI, Jun. 16 (SMM) - Some galvanizers in Tianjin’s Daqiu Village will be forced to shut down again due to a new round of environmental protection inspections there, Shanghai Metals Market reports.
This round of environmental protection inspections will last for 1-2 weeks, according to SMM sources.
Over half of local galvanizers have yet to restart production from the earlier environmental protection inspections since mid-May, SMM survey finds.
“Premiums of zinc prices in Tianjin over Shanghai will not expand significantly from falling supply after unit maintenance at several zinc smelters”, SMM zinc group foresees, since the closures at galvanizers will reduce zinc consumption in the region.
